Pearl Lowe reveals Gavin Rossdale the father of her daughter Daisy Lowe
He told me if Daisy had a DNA test he'd never speak to me again and he kept to his word': Pearl Lowe reveals family feud with father of her daughter Gavin Rossdale.
After rock offspring Daisy Lowe discovered her biological father was singer Gavin Rossdale, she took almost six years to mend their relationship.
However, the full extent of the model’s family feud has only just become apparent.
The 23-year-old’s mother Pearl has revealed Mr Rossdale has refused to speak to her since the shock revelations in 2004 – simply because she allowed her daughter to take a DNA test. Speaking to Easy Living magazine, the former indie singer, 42, gave a rare insight into their broken relationship.
She said: ‘While Daisy and I are close, things haven’t always been easy.
‘It was a bit hairy for six months when I told her I suspected her father was the musician Gavin Rossdale.
‘Gavin told me if Daisy, then 14, had a DNA test, he’d never speak to me again and he’s kept his word.
‘I lost him as a friend, but Daisy has a relationship with him, which is great.’
Formerly frontman of rock band Bush, Mr Rossdale, 43, has two children with his wife, pop icon Gwen Stefani, 42.
However their marriage was rocked when Daisy Lowe, then 14, accidentally discovered he was her father.
He and Pearl Lowe had a five year relationship in the late 1980s while she was married to fertility specialist Bronner Handwerger.
For years, Mr Rossdale had been a faithful godfather to Daisy, even attending all her school parents’ evenings.
But he soon became estranged from her family when Pearl arranged for her to take a DNA test to prove her real parentage.
Remembering the moment she discovered Mr Handwerger was not her father, Daisy said: ‘[It was] a very interesting time. That age is when you’re at your most malleable; you’re developing frontal lobes.
‘But I’m very proud of those times, ‘cos at those moments when the s*** hits the fan I could either go out and get really f***** up or I could go home, cry myself to sleep and wake up in the morning and give my mum a big cuddle, and feel better. And face it head on.’
However, in 2010, the British model revealed she had reconciled with her biological father and grown close to her half-brothers Kingston, five, and Zuma, three
