On September 25, 1967, Gordon married socialite Mrs. Elizabeth Lambert Schrafft, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in New York. A formal reception was held at the swank El Morocco club following the ceremony. “We met at a party,” MacRae told newsmen who asked when the romance started. “It was 95 days ago today. No one introduced us. It was just one of those meetings across a crowded room.” Restauranteur Toots Shor was best man. His ex-wife Sheila married Ronald Wayne, producer of The Jackie Gleason Show.
The couple were married until Gordon`s death in 1986.
