SOCCER star Sol Campbell is hoping to tackle a new career ? as a Hollywood actor.
Arsenal defender Sol, 28, was bitten by the acting bug after appearing in TV’s Footballers’ Wives.
Earlier this week he flew to New York to meet showbiz agents ? and yesterday he jetted on to Los Angeles for talks in Hollywood. Romeo Sol, whose tangled love life has hit the headlines, strolled around New York this week with a blonde at his side.
However, the woman wasn’t a new girlfriend . . . but an acting adviser. They are pictured above, with her dog peeking out of her bag.
Now the star? who missed the FA Cup Final through suspension ? hopes the only bookings he gets are for acting roles.
One New York agent said last night: “Sol has been here for meetings. He wants to become an actor when his soccer career ends and would love to be the next Denzel Washington. There is no suggestion of Sol quitting soccer now. He has a few years ahead of him yet.
“He loved appearing in Footballers’ Wives and feels acting is something he could do. Vinnie Jones did it, so why not Sol? He’s a good- looking guy.”
Sol’s troubled love life boiled over earlier this month when it was reported he had been dumped by lover Lisa Welham, 21, for cheating on her with blonde Austrian Alena Pitzer, 19.
