There's history between Imbruglia and the lead singer of Coldplay. About nine years ago, when she was on a break from Johns and before Martin met now-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, the pair dated.
When their lives moved on the pair lost touch - until Martin tracked her down through her legal team.
"It was very official," Imbruglia jokes. "I hadn't seen him for years. He didn't even have my phone numbers. Obviously back in the day I was a front-rower at all of their earlier gigs."
Martin was calling for a reason: he'd written a song for Imbruglia. It was called Fun and it wasn't just any song.
Indeed, while in Melbourne earlier this year, Martin was already talking up Fun.
"A bit annoyingly, we've given her the best Coldplay song of all time," Martin said at the time
